Xishuangbanna Biosphere Reserve (Credit: QIU Kaipei)
Located between the tropics and subtropics in Southeast Asia, it is the last remaining tropical area in China covered by vast virgin forests. There are about 4,000 species of tall plants, 758 species of vertebrates and 8 types of vegetation thriving in the reserve. In its jungles, tropical phenomena such as asplant-stranglers, buttresses, blossoming on old trunks, massive liana, colorful orchids and giant antnests can be seen everywhere. (UNESCO)
